Olivia Rodrigo Releases GUTS Tracklist
Days after teasing song titles in a messy bedroom – complete with violet bedsheets, a skateboard, and several instruments on the rug – Olivia Rodrigo has finally revealed the GUTS track list.
Her follow–up to Sour, out Sept. 8, doesn’t have a single boring song title: There’s All–American Bitch, Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl, and the eerily familiar Teenage Dream, to name a few. Check out the rest below.
The announcement follows the lead single Vampire, which Rodrigo dropped alongside a video directed by her frequent collaborator, Petra Collins. I just sat down at the piano one day and played these chords that felt kind of gothic to me,
she told Rolling Stone. I think there’s a lot of vampire lore to be played with, like ‘You only come out at night’ and stuff like that. There’s a lot of fun songwriting fodder in there.
Rodrigo will release several editions of GUTS on vinyl, pressed in colors ranging from navy to ivory. Hopefully, she’ll drop some tour dates soon.

Olivia Talks GUTS on The Julia Show
Less than a month after releasing the lead single off her forthcoming album, Olivia Rodrigo is already making history and we can’t even act like we’re surprised.
Rodrigo released the single vampire on June 30 and has since become the first artist to debut the lead single from each of her first two albums on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. So how’s she plan to celebrate?
“I think we’re gonna like, watch my favorite movie and go in the hot tub,” Olivia told Audacy’s Julia after sharing her Mom is currently staying at her house. “That sounds kind of lame, but that’s my dream celebration.”
Some good R&R is never lame if you ask us, especially after hearing how hard Rodrigo has been working on her new album GUTS, arriving September 8. Referring to the project as more “mature,” yet still a “sister” to her debut album SOUR, Olivia says she is excited to share her new, improved art with fans.
“This album is not a continuation of SOUR, but it’s definitely her sister and I’m the girl who wrote SOUR, just two years older and more mature, doing different things.”
“I really tried to improve my songwriting craft this time around. On SOUR everything was so sad and I was so emotional. I was just pouring my heart out into these songs… Not that I didn’t do that on this album, but I think I learned a little more of like, ‘This is how you polish up a song’ or ‘You can write a song in 30 minutes but maybe the next day you can tweak things.’ I think I really tied to focus on that this go–around.”
Rodrigo credits vampire for being a great example of the similarities and differences to come, which is exactly the reason she selected it to be the lead single.
“I think it’s not so completely out of left field when you look at SOUR and all of the things that we did there, but I also think that it’s a step forward and kind of hints at everything that’s to come in the next album.”
While selecting the song as the lead single was a no–brainer for the 20–year–old, some of the decisions surrounding which lyrics to use on the track didn’t come as easily.
“It was actually a debate whether ‘fame fucker’ should be in the song,” she admitted. “Some people said, ‘It kind of isolates you from people, you can’t really say things like that in song, it’s not relatable’ – yada yada yada.”
After admitting she “totally saw where they were coming from,” Rodrigo eventually decided to keep the head–turning term, which has quickly become a main staple of the song.
“I think it’s more about someone being manipulative and sucking you dry – using you for all your worth,” she expressed, sharing a deeper meaning behind the lyric. “I think that’s a universal theme, and I also think fame is more easily accessible now than it has ever been. It’s not just people in LA and and Hollywood that have to deal with that.”
While she decided to keep that line, Olivia did switch up a couple other lyrics from the original track, which can be heard exclusively on the vinyl versions.
Sisterly similarities between GUTS and SOUR aren’t limited to sonics and themes, fans will also see common ground within the artwork that Rodrigo says is an effort to keep cohesion throughout her career.
“I really just wanted to make things look cohesive. I love when artists can have cohesion throughout their career, not only cohesion throughout an album cycle,” she said, crediting The White Stripes for inspiring her with great execution of this idea.
As Rodrigo readies to spill her GUTS to the world come September, she says she is excited to show her growth and new–found confidence, not only as an artist, but personally as well.
“I feel like I grew 10 years in the years from 18 to 20,” she said. “I feel sure of who I am and what I want to do and what I want to say and the people I want to surround myself with… I’m still figuring lots of stuff out and thoroughly confused about lots of other aspects of life, but I’m definitely getting clear on more things.”
One thing she isn’t confused about is her favorite track on the upcoming album, and her answer has us ready to fast forward to September 8.
“The first song is my favorite, it’s kind of different sonically, it has a lot of dynamics,” she said. “It’s sort of my version of a riot girl punk song.”
Say no more, we’re deeming it our favorite song now, too!
Olivia Rodrigo Makes Vampire Tacos in Mexico
Olivia Rodrigo was living her best life in Mexico. The 20–year–old singer, who is enjoying the success of her latest song vampire after debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, was spotted in Mexico City promoting her upcoming album and joining Spotify’s ‘Prom’ event, which encourages a new generation of artists.
The Filipino–American musician has been welcomed with open arms in Latin America, as she continues to grow a loyal fan base with her songs and stage presence. And while Olivia had a tight schedule during her time in Mexico, she made some time to cook and enjoy delicious dishes.
The singer is now going viral after learning how to make Vampiros de Carne Asada with Chef Roberto Morales. “You wanna cook some Vampiro tacos?” the Chef asks, to which Olivia immediately agrees, while wearing plastic vampire fangs.
Olivia also took the opportunity to learn some words in Spanish with the help of Roberto, while discovering the process of making tortillas from scratch. “Va pa dentro!” Olivia says before cooking the tortilla. “Que chille!” she repeats. The pair also enjoyed a Vampire drink, perfectly pairing the meal.
“Limoncito!” Olivia says before putting the final touches to the tacos. Fans of the singer were excited to see her speaking in Spanish, with one person writing, “Her in Mexico and speaking Spanish is MY EVERYTHING,” while someone else commented, “OLIVIA IS LATINA AT HEART,” adding, “OLIVIA IS INVITED TO THE CARNE ASADA FOR SURE.”

Joining us for a special Audacy Check In with host Bru today is 3X GRAMMY–winning singer Olivia Rodrigo as she gets ready to drop her sophomore album GUTS in just a few weeks.
It’s already an exciting time as the first single, vampire, from Olivia’s forthcoming 2023 album GUTS hit number one this week thanks to her ravenous fans. “I feel really lucky to have such awesome fans, and so many people who so graciously support me,” Olivia says, although she admits it was “a little bit daunting” releasing the first single, wondering what the fan reaction would be. “I really love the song,” she adds, “and I think that’s probably what matters the most. Everything else has just been icing on the cake, and it’s been wonderful.”
Written last winter, Olivia says she knew as soon as the piano chords began to take shape that there was something special happening with vampire. “The song was expressing something that I had been trying to express for a while but hadn’t up until that point,” she says. “I just feel like it’s a good introduction to the album. I feel like it’s not so far away from what I did in ‘SOUR,’ but it’s also introducing some new topics and new attitudes, and new sounds, and kind of hinting at a little bit of what’s to come.”
Ever since the release of her debut album SOUR in 2021, Olivia admits everything in her life has taken an abrupt left turn. “Oh my gosh… my life is so different. I owe so much to those songs and that album,” she says. “Now this is my bona fide job, I get to travel around the world and make music, make records that I love, and I just couldn’t think of a better situation. I feel very lucky… I’m really proud of that record, and I’m so grateful for all the doors that it’s opened.”
Olivia believes touring in support of SOUR and seeing the crowd’s reaction to certain songs helped in the creation of GUTS. Of course, she still gets nervous performing new music, revealing she’d rather play for a room of 5,000 people rather than five: “It’s kind of harder when it’s more intimate. I definitely do get stage fright. That hasn’t really gone away yet,” she says. To help calm her nerves, Olivia does “a little meditation… I thank the universe… and ask for a good show and I pray that people have a good time and that they take whatever they need to from the show.”
As fans know, Olivia first gained recognition in the late 2010s with her lead roles on the Disney TV shows Bizaardvark and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Now in her singing and songwriting era, both trades have their own unique challenges she says. “I think they’re hard and fun,” she explains. “One of my favorite things about music is how independent you can be. How truly, at the end of the day, you make almost every decision. You decide what lyric it is, you decide what melody it is, you come up with the idea for the music video. It’s very centered on you… but I think there’s something so beautiful about being an actor and being part of a set and just being a teammate. There’s something really beautiful in that camaraderie, so I like them both for different reasons.”
Growing up as a child actor certainly helped with Olivia’s ability to show vulnerability in her music and performances. “I think it helped with singing too,” she says. “Sometimes to get a good vocal performance I think I have to tap into that acting skill. It’s actually funny. My producer, Dan… Sometimes if I’m not giving a vocal performance that he thinks is emotional enough he’ll literally record me, and by just recording me I’ll inherently give a better vocal performance. Because I’m used to being filmed, and being emotional from my childhood or something, I dunno –– life hack!”
Olivia recently became friends with one of her musical idols after bumping into each other at the Met Gala. “Oh my God, what is my life?” Olivia asks in disbelief. Gwen Stefani, she says, “really inspired me as a songwriter when I was just starting out. We had a talk… she was so wonderful and really supportive and sweet.” We’re not sure if this counts as supportive as much, but Gwen did send her a video a few months ago of a rattlesnake curled up in the corner of her room. Ranch life with Blake Shelton, we suppose. “I would burn the house down and move away,” Olivia says. “I don’t know how she does it.”
She better start clearing her schedule though, Olivia just got asked to go to prom! After never going to her own, one of her “regrets” in life, she was asked to go by a fan during her vampire release party. Although she has no details to share yet –– if circumstances allow, she says she’d love to one day finally wear that corsage.

Olivia Rodrigo Shares Meaning Behind Vampire
Olivia Rodrigo is opening up about her new single vampire.
The 20–year–old Grammy–winning singer recently appeared on SiriusXM Hits 1 LA with Tony Fly and Symon, where she revealed the meaning behind her new hit song.
“I think the reason why I love vampire so much is to me it’s not a song about, ‘Oh, this person hurt me. This guy hurt me,'” Olivia shared. “I think that’s kind of surface level to me. What I love about it is it kind of looks inward.”
She continued, “It’s more about my regret and kind of beating myself up for doing something that I knew wasn’t gonna turn out great and kind of just taking ownership of that and dealing with those feelings. That’s what it means to me, but obviously anyone can, you know, have their own interpretation of it, but that’s kind of why it was so special to me.”
Olivia also opened up about the anxiety of writing vampire and her new album GUTS, which she will be releasing this fall.
“There was definitely a lot of pressure and definitely a lot of anxiety especially I think in the early stages of writing this album, I was pretty overwhelmed,” Olivia explained. “It’s a pretty daunting task, but I wrote vampire in December of last year, so not too long ago and I always really loved it. ”
“I always felt like it was a special song, if not for anyone, just for me,” Olivia added. “I felt like it really resonated with me, and I felt like I expressed something that I had been trying to express for a long time and so in that regard I knew it was special and when it came time to pick a single, this one just felt right and I feel like it’s a good introduction into this new world.”
Olivia Rodrigo Becomes Youngest Artist to Debut Three No. 1 Hits on Songs Chart
Olivia Rodrigo returns to the top of the charts with her new piano–centric ballad vampire – which tells off a certain “bloodsucker” – occupying the No. 1 slot on the Billboard Hot 100.
With vampire, the 20–year–old becomes the youngest artist in the chart’s history to post three No. 1 singles. It also makes her the first artist to have ever to debuted lead singles from her first and second albums at No. 1.
vampire is the lead single from the pop artist’s incoming sophomore album GUTS (due out Sept. 8) and serves as the follow–up to her 2021 debut album “Sour,” which scored Rodrigo her first two No. 1 singles: “Drivers License,” which ruled for eight weeks, and “Good 4 u,” which led the list in its first week out.
Released on June 30 via Geffen/Interscope Records, vampire drew nearly 36 million streams, 26 million radio airplay audience impressions and sold 26,000 in the first frame, according to data by Luminate. These numbers represent the biggest debut week of Rodrigo’s career across multiple platforms, including Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and radio.
The new single was simultaneously released with a Petra Collins–directed visual during a live YouTube premiere in Los Angeles on June 29. The video amassed over 12.9 million views in its first 24 hours on the platform.
SOUR collaborator Dan Nigro worked on the track, which according to Rodrigo is about “feeling confused and hurt,” and is also producing GUTS, a project that is set to tackle the “growing pains” the young star has experienced since launching into her career.
vampire replaces Morgan Wallen’s country–pop single “Last Night,” which led the Hot 100 for 13 non–consecutive weeks following its mid–March debut. Rodrigo’s 36 million on–demand streams outpaced Wallen’s 30 million but “Last Night” still drew the larger crowd on radio, logging 74.5 million in radio reach in the last tracking week.
